The Rudolf Nureyev project began in 1994 with four preliminary pastel studies.

The sculpture process began in 1995, with a 1/3 life size head of Rudolf Nureyev in wax followed by a 4/3 life size head in clay, which was cast in bronze as shown here. A 1/3 life size full figure bronze followed in 1997.
